Quick question re car rental with enterprise?

I made a reservation and was told that a $300 deposit was needed with a debit card… Does this mean they charge $300 plus the rental fee, or only the $300 and then when the car is returned the return the remainder from the fee subtracted to the $300, or only hold your card until the car is returned and charge the fee’s plus any other charges to the card??

one way car rentals
Use a credit card, you won’t need to deposit any amount.
300 will be removed and when you return the car you’ll get the balance back.
